Computational and Data Science

The new degree programs in Computational and Data Science, i.e. Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) (from winter semester 2025/2026) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) (in preparation for start from winter semester 2026/2027), offer an interdisciplinary profile from mathematics, computer science and a natural science, engineering or economics. While Data Science focuses on recognizing patterns and developing models by analyzing data, Computational Science uses existing models to simulate data and make predictions. The combination of these approaches makes it possible to effectively combine data-driven and model-based methods and to create innovative solutions for complex challenges in science, industry and economy.

The study programs will add to the range of offerings at KIT in the future: The KIT Graduate School Computational and Data Science | KCDS, which is aimed at doctoral researchers, was already founded in 2021.
